Church services across our Benefice
Benefice Lambing Service
Our annual lambing service will be held on Sunday 16th March at 3:30pm at St Mary's Church Stapleford Tawney. It will be a short service conducted in the churchyard. Hand-washing is available, and anyone who is or might be pregnant, should not go near the sheep or let little sheepy fingers touch yours. Tea and cakes afterwards. It's a good opportunity to invite all the family and friends.
Regular Services
All Saints' Theydon Garnon
Sunday morning
- Every Sunday service starts at 9.15am
- 1st Sunday, All Age Service - a relaxed service with songs in accessible language
- 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays Parish Communion at 9.15am (with Children's Church in the Gatehouse usually on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month) - this is a service in contemporary language with hymns led by a robed choir.
- 5th Sunday Benefice service, starting at 10am. This service rotates around the 4 churches within the Benefice
- There is also a service of Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer at 8am on the 1st Sunday of the month (except in November, and on other occasions when indicated on the weekly notice sheet or online on Facebook @thetheydonparishes).
Sunday evening
- An Evening Service is usually held on the 5th Sunday of each month at 6pm.
Midweek
- Every Tuesday there is a simple Holy Communion Service starting at 10am.
St. Mary's Theydon Bois
Sunday morning
- Every Sunday Holy Communion at 8.00am - a said service in traditional language
- 1st Sunday of the month at 10.30am All Age Service - a service with songs and prayers in accessible language
- 2nd & 3rd Sundays at 10.30am Family Communion - with hymns led by robed choir and groups for primary school age children in the adjacent Parish Centre
- 4th Sundays at 10.30am Morning Worship - with hymns led by robed choir and groups for primary school age children in the adjacent Parish Centre
- Where there is 5th Sunday in the month a Joint Service is held at 10am in one of the churches of the Theydon Parishes.
Sunday evening
- 1st Sunday of the month at 6pm Sung Communion - a modern language service with hymns
- Every other Sunday at 6pm - Sung Evensong or Night Prayer - a service with hymns in traditional language (When there is a 5th Sunday in the month this service is held at All Saints Theydon Garnon)
Midweek
- A service of Holy Communion is said in St Mary's Theydon Bois on Wednesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 12 midday. These simple said services last no longer than half an hour
St. Mary's Stapleford Tawney & St. Michael's Theydon Mount
Sunday morning
- 1st Sunday, Holy Communion at 10:45am at St. Mary's Stapleford Tawney
- 2nd Sunday. Service of the Word or Holy Communion at 10:45am at St. Michael's Theydon Mount
- 3rd Sunday, Service of the Word or Holy Communion at 10:45am at St. Mary's Stapleford Tawney
- 4th Sunday, Holy Communion at 10:45am at St. Michael's Theydon Mount
- 5th Sunday, Benefice Communion starting at 10am. This service rotates its location around the 4 churches within the Benefice.
Places for prayer
If you need a place for prayer that is not during a time of a service, please note that St. Mary's Stapleford Tawney church is always open during daylight hours.
Also the north porch at All Saints' Theydon Garnon is also open for prayer and quiet contemplation.
